Who loves a juicy pork chop?

Who hates a dried out, tough pork chop?

If you answered, "me" to both of those questions, then this recipe for boneless pork chops in the air fryer is for you!

How do I cook pork chops so they don't dry out?

When it comes to preparing pork chops (especially boneless pork chops) this is the number one question because NOBODY likes a dry, tough pork chop!

The answer is simple:
  • Cook boneless pork chops to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. Remember, they are safe to eat with a blush of pink. In fact, that blush of pink will let you know your chop is juicy and delicious.
  • Cook boneless pork chops in the air fryer. The convection cooking that happens in an air fryer seals in the juices giving you a tender, juicy pork chop every single time.

Cooking boneless pork chops vs. bone-in pork chops

The main difference between cooking boneless pork chops (whether they are thin boneless pork chops or thicker boneless pork chops) is cook time.

The ideal internal temperature for pork chops is 145 degrees F no matter how they are prepared. Bone-in chops will take a longer cook time to achieve this ideal temperature then boneless pork chops will and thin boneless pork chops will take the least amount of time to cook.

Today's pork is fairly lean. In fact, pork tenderloin is as lean as a boneless, skinless, chicken breast. That's why it's very important to NOT over cook today's pork. This includes pork chops.

You will usually find boneless pork chops (center cut) available at your grocers in a regular cut (which is around 1") and thin cut (which is around 1/2"). Both the 1" cut boneless pork chops and the thin cut pork chops are ideal for this air fryer recipe.

What's the best pork chop seasoning?

If you search the internet you will find all sorts of seasonings suggestions for pork chops. But I think keeping it simple makes the best pork chop in the air fryer. It allows the delicious taste of the pork to shine through. The simple seasonings I like to use are:
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
This air fryer boneless pork chops recipe doesn't call for breading the pork chops. It's an air fryer boneless pork chop recipe with no breading. If you are looking for a great breaded pork chop recipe, check out this recipe for Breaded Oven Baked Pork Chops.

How do I make juicy boneless pork chops in the air fryer?

Start by identifying whether you have regular boneless pork chops or thin boneless pork chops. Regular cut boneless pork chops will be somewhere around 1" thick and thin boneless pork chops will be about 1/2 inch thick. Identifying what kind you are cooking will help you determine how long to cook. You will still cook both thicknesses to an internal temperature of 145 degrees F, but thin boneless pork chops will take less time to get to that temperature.

Remove boneless pork chops from packaging and pat both sides dry with paper towels. Discard towels. Wash hands.

Brush one side of boneless pork chops with olive oil. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic power, and a pinch of paprika. Rub into pork chop. Turn pork chop over and repeat process. Wash hands.

Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees F.

Place boneless pork chops in basket of air fryer in single layer, leaving a little room between each. If your basket isn't big enough for the amount of pork chops you want to cook, you may need to cook in batches.

Food Blogger Tip --> Line the bottom of your air fryer with a sheet of aluminum foil for easy clean up.

How to cook regular boneless pork chops (approximately 1 inch thick) in the air fryer: Cook at 400 degrees F for 6 minutes, then open basket and turn pork chops over  to the other side and cook an additional 6 minutes on the other side or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F on an instant read thermometer.

How to cook thin boneless pork chops (approximately 1/2 inch thick) in the air fryer: Cook at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes on one side, then open basket and turn pork chops over to the other side and cook an additional 4 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F on an instant read thermometer.

Remove boneless pork chops to a serving platter and tent with foil. Let rest for 3 minutes so pork chops can reabsorb their juices before serving.
